Ithaca is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Ithaca is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I've been taking a climbing class here for 2 semesters now, and I can't tell you how grateful I am for this community. The instructors are all positive, supportive people who help you achieve goals, and in my case, ones I didn't even know I had. Savannah, Doug, Laure, Ernie, Avi, Perrine, Olivier, Hadas--you are real ones. Now I can't wait to get to the gym every week and start a new project. Climbing has built up my confidence and willingness to try routes that intimidate me, which are hopefully transferable skills. :) If you're a staff or faculty member considering the wellness class, definitely do it. This place is really special.

Great rock climbing wall with tons of choices and super friendly staff. Variety of difficulty makes for a great inclusive experience. Highly recommend!!!

Looked like a decent little climbing gym, but it was not clear to me before I arrived there that if you are not already affiliated with Cornell you must become "affiliated" by taking one of their 2-hour long climbing classes in order to be able to climb there. For someone who's just passing through town looking for a place to climb, not very practical and a solid bummer.

Extremely methodical and specific belay test made it hard to get certified for the first time (allegedly for much more experienced climbers than myself) and the bouldering was uncomfortable for taller climbers with many low starts. Staff were nice but the setting and belay test were just very subpar. Low energy atmosphere, since bouldering wasn't fun many people weren't climbing or projecting. Wack. Also pretty expensive for non-students. Just go to Syracuse. Edit - visited 5 years later. Still a lot of sit starts, worn holds, and nobody top-roping...for some reason.
